Gender Equality
sunitasahThe way of treating girls and boys equally is gender equality. It is important for everyone to have equal opportunities and rights regardless of their gender because it helps in the field of development and prevents violence against women and girls. It also contributes to the progress of our society. When men and women hold equal status and participate equally, our society and country advance effectively and can achieve significant milestones.
Gender equality helps to boost the economy and development. However, in many countries, there are numerous restrictions and conditions that harm our society and community, impeding their development.
We are seeing a surge in cases of rape, murder, and other crimes, primarily due to gender inequalities. If equal opportunities were given to both girls and boys, many of these crises might not exist. Unfortunately, in our society, people often deny education to girls or provide education only to boys due to regressive attitudes. This prevents girls from accessing education and becoming empowered. Similarly, the existence of a third gender is often not accepted, and they are not provided with education. It is wrong to ostracize them from society. Gender equality is fundamental, and we must treat everyone with the same level of respect and opportunity, regardless of their gender identity.
In our society, girls receive education from government schools while boys attend private schools. Parents often restrict girls' movements and opportunities while allowing boys greater freedom. These inequalities are rooted in the belief that girls are incapable of self-reliance and protection. To improve the situation for girls, we must encourage their independence and provide them with the same privileges and resources as boys.
People often do not allow girls to participate in various family activities. If a girl expresses her opinion on family matters, she is often told, "You are a girl; your role is limited to household chores. You are not allowed to do this." This discrimination between girls and boys is unjust. Girls should also be given the opportunity to contribute to family matters, as they might offer valuable solutions. We should not discriminate but instead provide equal opportunities to everyone. In our society, people say that girls cannot protect themselves. But unless girls are given equal opportunities, how can they prove to society that they are equal? If a girl is not educated, how will she be able to participate in the growth of her family and society?
If equality is provided to girls, boys, and people of all genders, they will use their knowledge for the development of the nation, and our country will become more progressive.
